제자를 두지 않으며 무예는 수양이라 생각하여 도전자들의 도전만을 소극적으로 받아 들이던 영춘권의 최고수 엽문 (견자단). 그러나 무자비한 일본의 폭력 속에 불산에서 홍콩으로 넘어 온 엽문은 새로운 결심을 한다. 제자를 받아 들이며 더 많은 이들을 강하게 만드는 것은 물론, 홍콩과 중국 최고의 무예인이 되기 위한 도전을 시작하는데…  전설이 된 이름 '엽문', 그는 누구인가? 광동의 불산에서 태어난 엽문(1893~1972)은 7세의 어린 나이에 무술을 시작하여 '영춘권'의 대가 '양벽' 밑에서 실력을 키워나가 중국 전역에 명성을 떨쳤다. 그러던 중 1937년 중일전쟁이 발발하자 자국인들에게 '영춘권'을 가르치며 일본에 맞서 중국의 자존심을 지켰고, 해방 후 홍콩으로 건너가 영춘권의 붐을 주도하여 전통무술의 대중화에 앞장섰다. 특히 당시 13세의 이소룡을 제자로 받아들여 훗날 이소룡이 가장 존경하는 스승이자 '절권도'의 기본원칙과 사상의 중심이 된 인물로도 유명하다.
