북송시대 말기, 황제가 원인 모를 병에 걸리자 '고 태위'는 병의 원인이 저주가 깃든 요괴의 돌에 있다며 80만 금위군의 교관이자 창술의 대가 장수 '임충'에게 그 요석을 찾아오라 명한다. 길을 떠난 '임충'은 마침내 요석을 찾지만 그를 시기한 음해세력은 '임충'의 아내 얼굴을 본뜬 요석으로 그를 함정에 빠뜨린다. 결국 숨겨진 요괴라는 누명을 쓴 아내와 '임충'은 커다란 위기에 처하는데... '임충'은 위험에 빠진 아내를 구하기 위해 악인들의 음모에 필사적으로 맞서기 시작한다.
