초고속! 참근교대

에도 막부를 연 도쿠가와 정권은, 제3대 쇼군 도쿠가와 이에미츠 치세 때 막번체제를 확립하고 다이묘들을 에도와 영지를 왕래하며 근무하도록 했다. 이는 쇼군의 권위를 강화하며, 다이묘들의 경제력을 소모하여 모반을 견제하기 위함이었다. 이를 '참근교대(산킨코타이, 参勤交代) 제도'라고 부른다. 고쿠타카 1만 5천 석의 유나가야 번의 꼬마 다이묘이자 번주 나이토 마사아츠는, 에도의 노중(老中) 마츠다이라 노부토키의 탄핵으로 금광의 금을 빼돌려서 반란을 모의한다는 의심을 받고 그 해명을 하라는 이유로, 본래는 8일이 걸리는 거리를 5일 안에 오라는 명을 받고 급히 에도로 향한다. 더구나 노부토키의 계속된 방해공작에 점점 에도로 도착하는 게 힘들어지는데...
