모노스[신작영화]

알레한드로 란데스 감독은 다큐멘터리 <코카 재배인 Cocalero>(2007)과 첫 장편 극영화 <포르피리오 Porfirio>(2011) 이후, 주목할 만한 스타일의 변화를 보여주는 신작 <모노스>로 2019년 선댄스영화제 특별심사위원상을 수상했다. 압도적인 대자연 속에서 현대식 무기를 장착한 십대 게릴라 아이들은 젖소를 죽이는 의도치 않은 실수를 하고, 이 작은 행동은 생존을 위한 전쟁이라는 파국으로 흘러간다. 윌리엄 골딩의 소설 『파리대왕』과 전쟁영화의 중간쯤에 위치한 이 영화는, 재스퍼 울프의 촬영과 미카 레비의 음악이 더해져 라틴아메리카 영화에서는 흔히 볼 수 없던 수준의 휘몰아치는 감정과 감각을 드러낸다. '맥시멀리스트 영화'라는 형식에 과감히 도전하는 작품.
