키아로스타미가 안내하는 천국으로의 소풍테헤란에서 450마일, 지도에도 나와있지 않은 외딴 마을 시어 다레(검은 계곡)로 지프 한 대가 들어선다. 붉은 언덕과 나무들을 길잡이 삼아 어렵게 도착한 베흐저드 일행. 스스로를 전화 기술자라고 소개하지만 멀리까지 와서는 하는 일이 없다. 묘지로 차를 몰아가는 모습에 마을 사람들은 그들이 보물을 찾으러 온 것은 아닐까 추측할 뿐...  사실 베흐저드 일행은 이 마을 최고령 할머니의 장례식을 촬영하러 온 취재팀이다. 문제는 일이 벌어지기도 전에 너무 앞질러 왔다는 것. 모두가 느긋하기만 한 이 곳에서, 곧 돌아가실 줄만 알았던 여배우는 여유만만. 좀처럼 천국행을 서두르지 않으신다. 심지어는 무심하게도 회복의 기미마저 보이고...  초조한 마음으로 할머니의 소식을 기다리는 보름동안, 베흐저드는 마을 사람들과 우정을 나눈다. 언제나 바쁘고 재촉하는 일에 익숙했던 그에게 마을사람들의 여유로운 삶과 넉넉한 자연의 모습은 신선한 충격. 서서히 이곳의 리듬에 젖어드는 베흐저드는 자기도 모르는 사이 놀라운 변신을 경험한다. 맨 처음 마을을 찾아온 불순한 목적과는 180도 다른 일에 뛰어드는데
